Marcela Noriega Del Valle

Bio

 

 

Marcela Noriega Del Valle was born in Peru where she studied at the prestigious National School of Fine Arts in Lima.  In 1989 she moved to the United States, where she received a BFA from the Corcoran School of Art and a Masters in Art History and Sculpture from the American University in Washington, D.C.  She learned the art of handmade tiles through a residential Intership at the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Ms. Noriega Del Valle has exhibited extensively in collective and solo shows, and created and directed several public works and commissions. She is best known for her sculptures, ceramic tiles, public art and tile murals. 

An accomplished teacher, Ms. Noriega Del Valle created a curricula of classes for the "After School Enrichment Program" for Arlington County Public Schools, where she taught ceramics, tile making, murals and drawing to the school children. She was also a faculty member in the Ceramics Department at the Art League (Torpedo Factory) in Alexandria, Virginia, where she taught adults and children for many years.

In 2007, Marcela moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is currently working full time in her studio creating sculptures and murals, and accepts private, public and corporate commissions.
